Appreciation post: the new LED lantern I bought after hating them for years
I was a diehard candle lantern fan for like 6 years. But I saw a buddy's Black Diamond Moji at a campsite near Flagstaff last month and the difference was shocking. His light was clean and white, not that flickery yellow I always hated from LED. I bought one for $35 and used it on a 3 night trip. Now I don't miss the smoky smell or the fire hazard at all. Anyone else switch from candles to LED and not look back?

Read somewhere those new LEDs use way less battery too which is nice.

Yeah but is it really that big of a deal? I mean, I get not wanting a fire, but I've been using the same old candle lantern for years and never had issues. The smoky smell is kind of part of it for me, adds to the vibe. Maybe I'm just not picky enough but $35 for a upgrade doesn't sound worth it when my candle cost like $5 and works fine.
