Can we talk about the 30 day challenge to only buy store brand groceries

I tried it last month to save money, but my weekly bill at the local Food Fair only dropped by about $8. The real shock was that their store brand coffee was actually better than the name brand I used to buy. Has anyone else found a specific store brand item that completely surprised them?

My friend was a total brand snob about ketchup until their kid grabbed the store brand by mistake. They said the generic stuff was actually thicker and less sweet, which they liked way more. Now they won't go back to the name brand at all.

Actually, the big name brands like Heinz have used real sugar in their main ketchup for years now. The taste difference is more about the tomato paste and spice blend they use.

Check the ingredients list on that store brand ketchup. I wonder if the difference in taste is because they use real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, which a lot of the big brands do.
