My grandma told me to talk to my plants, and I thought she was crazy
She swore they grew better if you chatted with them daily, so I started reading seed packets out loud to my philodendron 6 months ago. It put out 8 new leaves, which is way more than the one next to it that I ignored. Anyone else have a plant that responds to weird attention?

Girl, I did the same thing with my snake plant! Started narrating my grocery list to it every morning and it grew three feet. For real though, I think it's about consistency. I talk to my plants for exactly 5 minutes each day, same time, and they all perk up. The one I ignored for a week got all droopy and sad. So yeah, keep chatting those seed packets, it totally works.

Wait, do you think the genre of music Actually matters?? @rose_craig97 your roommate's cactus story is cracking me up because my philodendron gets jazzy new age piano and it's basically a jungle now. I swear the one I ignore is a total bum, just sitting there brown and bitter. My grandma was right about talking to them for sure, but now I'm wondering if I should switch to something heavier. Could be we're just giving them attention and that's what does it, like a weird plant version of being seen.

Oh wow, that's wild. Made me remember my roommate in college who swore his cactus grew faster when he played it heavy metal. He had this little speaker pointed right at it, blasting Metallica for hours. The thing got huge, weirdly. Meanwhile my fern just sat there looking sad. I think plants are just weird little creatures that respond to vibes, honestly.
