My pork shoulder stalled for 8 hours on the smoker yesterday

I wrapped it in butcher paper and bumped the temp up to 275, which finally got it moving. Anyone have a better method for pushing through a stubborn stall?

Had to pick between a new headset press or fixing my old one with a homemade tool

The shop's old Park Tool HHP-2 press had a bent ram from a bad drop. I could either order a new one for about $300 or try to straighten it with a bench vise and some careful hammer taps. I went with the fix, spent two hours getting it close to true. It works okay for most bikes now, but I still get a little wobble on carbon frames. Anyone have a better fix for a bent press ram that doesn't cost a full replacement?

Update: My frozen french fries went from pale and soggy to golden and crisp after I started soaking them in cold water for 30 minutes before air frying.

I saw a specific before-and-after difference in my frozen french fries, where they were always a bit limp and sad, but after I started the soaking step (which pulls out excess starch, I guess) for a solid half-hour and then patted them super dry, they came out of the air fryer looking and tasting like a proper diner's version.

A client brought me a book to fix that was literally held together with duct tape

This happened about two months ago at my small shop in Eugene. A nice older man came in with a very old family Bible, and it was a mess. The spine was gone, pages were loose, and someone had tried to 'fix' it by wrapping the whole thing in thick gray duct tape. He handed it to me and said, 'My grandson did this for me, he's a very handy boy.' I had to keep a straight face while I explained that duct tape is acidic and the adhesive will basically melt into the paper over time, making a proper repair way harder. I spent the next hour carefully peeling it off with a bone folder and some solvent, and the pages underneath were already stained. Has anyone else had a well-meaning repair job come in that made your heart sink a little?

My art got featured on a big Instagram page and the response was crazy

Last Tuesday, the account Digital Dreamscapes shared my latest space painting. I woke up to over 300 new followers and 50+ comments before noon. Most were really nice, but a few people gave super detailed critiques on my planet textures. It was my first time getting that much feedback all at once. How do you guys handle a sudden rush of attention on your work?
