Why does nobody talk about the grain direction thing in bookcloth?

I was cutting some cloth last night for a new project and the corners kept puffing out weird. Looked it up on a forum from 2012 (I know, old) and found out bookcloth has a grain direction too, just like paper. Spent 3 hours rewatching a video from a binder in Boston who explained how the cloth needs to run parallel to the spine. Has anybody else had this ruin a project or am I just slow on the uptake?

Never had that issue myself, I just glue it down and it works fine.

oh but what kind of glue are you even using? like is it super glue or wood glue or something else entirely cause i tried super glue once and it just popped right off after a couple days. also how long do you let it set before you start using whatever it is you glued? i feel like half the battle is just waiting long enough for the bond to actually hold. and what's the surface you're gluing to? some materials just don't grab glue well no matter what you do.
