I was sure linen thread was just a fancy trend until my last project

For years I used basic cotton thread for all my bindings, thinking the expensive linen stuff was just for show. Then I bound a thick art book for a client last month and the cotton snapped during the final tightening. A friend gave me some 18/3 natural linen thread to try, saying it had way more give. The difference was huge. It held strong through the whole process and the book lays completely flat now. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a real change in how their thicker books hold up?

Just hipster string" is a bit off. It's a real tool with a specific job, not a style thing.
