My game night in Austin ended with a cat and a missing piece

We were playing a new game called 'Skyward' at my friend's place last Friday, and his cat, Mochi, decided the little wooden airship token looked like a toy. She swatted it right off the table and it vanished. We spent twenty minutes on our hands and knees looking under the couch and everything. Finally, my friend's wife found it in the cat's water bowl, completely soaked. We had to dry it with a hairdryer for ten minutes before we could keep playing, and it still felt a bit sticky. The whole game, we kept joking that the airship had crash-landed at sea. What's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to one of your game pieces?

Oh man, that is a CLASSIC cat move right there. Did the piece puff up or get all weird from the water? My sister's dog once ate a red meeple from Catan, and we had to wait two days to get it back, if you know what I mean. We washed it off but it was retired from service after that. Nothing like a pet giving your game a whole new story.

Wait, you dried a wooden piece with a hairdryer? I mean, I would have been so scared it would crack or something. That's some risky rescue mission for a game piece.

Seriously, pets are the ultimate random event generator for board games.
