Rant: My old way of blending a skin fade was taking way too long
I was spending 45 minutes on a single fade, especially on the back of the head, and my appointments were running over. A barber from the shop in Austin, Shear Magic, showed me his trick: start with a 1.5 guard open, then go straight to a 1 closed, and use the corner of your clipper blade to flick out the line. It cut my time down to 25 minutes and the blend looked cleaner. Anyone have a different method for speeding up a tight skin fade?

Man, that flicking trick is a lifesaver! I used to get stuck blending the parietal ridge until a barber in Tampa told me to use my trimmer sideways, almost like a pencil, to soften that line. It sounds weird but it works.

Totally thought that was just a weird gimmick until I tried it myself. Used to press way too hard and leave a harsh line every single time. Now I barely touch the skin and let the corner of the blade do the work. Completely changed how I blend my own hair, honestly. What other weird tricks have you picked up from barbers?
