Had to pick between a game night with my old crew or a big convention, chose the crew

My buddy Jeff kept the whole game set up on a spare table in his basement for those three weeks. We did play long sessions, maybe ten hours each Saturday, but the real time saver was never putting it away. It's a board game, not a life goal, so we just powered through the story missions and ignored random side stuff.

A client in Portland asked for a built-in with no visible fasteners at all

Hah, that's an amazing visual @david_rivera4. Honestly, my version of that was trying to make a floating shelf with just a crazy tight friction fit. I got it in there with a mallet and everything, felt like a genius for a whole week. Then summer humidity hit and the whole thing just slowly leaned forward and dumped all my stuff on the floor. Tbh, sometimes you just have to learn the hard way that a few hidden screws aren't cheating.

My boss in Alaska swore by using a 2-inch cutterhead for glacial silt, but after a week of fighting it, the old timer running the fuel dock told me to switch to a 4-inch and production tripled.

@hernandez.emma What's the worst case you've seen where someone refused to listen to that advice? I've watched guys burn up two motors on the same machine trying to force a small head through muck, swearing it was just a bad part each time. The stubbornness tax gets real high, real fast.

Took me three days to realize a 'stone tool' was just a weirdly shaped river rock

Is it really a waste of time if you were just having fun looking? I've picked up plenty of cool rocks that were just rocks.

Showerthought: I realized people skip the 'fun money' line in their budget and then feel broke.

Yeah, the "bigger issues" part is what gets me. It's not about the coffee itself, it's about the habit. Letting small leaks slide is how you end up with a sinking ship.
