Hit 200 straight walk-ins without a single no-show last month

I've been cutting hair out of my home shop in Denver for about two years, and last month I somehow clocked 200 walk-ins in a row with nobody bailing. It felt like a lucky streak, but maybe my new text reminder system is actually working. Has anyone else noticed a drop in no-shows after changing how you confirm appointments?

Maybe it's just me but that text reminder system is probably doing more heavy lifting than you think. I've seen similar stuff with appointment based places around here, especially when they add a link to confirm or cancel right in the text message itself. That little extra step seems to make people feel more accountable, like it's not just a passive reminder but an active decision. Idk if that's the exact change you made but it sounds like you stumbled onto something solid.

that little extra step seems to make people feel more accountable" - yeah exactly. I added a link to confirm or cancel in my text reminders too and it felt weird at first, like I was being pushy. But honestly I think it just gives people an easy out so they don't ghost you out of guilt. My no-show rate went from like 15% to maybe 2% after I started doing it. Pretty sure the only reason I hit that streak is because people appreciated having a polite way to bail instead of just not showing up and hoping I forgot about them.

Man I had the same thing with my lawn care customers. I started sending a quick text the night before saying "still good for tomorrow?" with a yes or no reply. Dropped my cancellations from like 4 or 5 a week down to maybe 1. People just need that easy offramp I think.
