Wasted $200 on a laser level that promised self-leveling but was a total dud
I bought this fancy laser level from a big box store after my boss said we needed one for a ceiling grid job in Austin. The thing said it self-levels in 30 seconds, but after 10 minutes it was still bouncing around and giving me crooked lines. I spent an entire afternoon adjusting it manually (which defeats the whole point) and then the battery died after just 2 hours. Took it back to the store and the guy at the counter said they get returns on that model all the time. Anybody else get burned by those so-called self-leveling tools?

Those self-leveling lasers usually need a completely stable surface or they'll never settle down right.

@patricia_green21 yeah, gotta put it on a tripod or a solid floor or it'll just keep hunting forever.

@patricia_green21 I hear what you're saying about needing a stable surface but honestly it sounds like the tool itself is just junk. A self leveling laser should be able to handle a little wobble, thats the whole point of buying one. Sounds like you just got a bad model that's been returned a bunch already.
