Date night ended early over a compost bin disagreement.

I went on a date with someone who seemed nice until we started talking about daily habits. I mentioned that I separate my food scraps for composting, and he laughed it off. He said it was a waste of time and that I was being too picky about trash. The conversation got heated, and he left before we even ordered dinner. It showed me how values around sustainability can be a big deal in relationships. Now, I bring up eco habits early on to avoid surprises. As a nurse, I see a lot of waste in healthcare, so it matters to me. If you care about the environment, don't hide it. It saves time and awkward dates.

My last date asked why I bring my own bags to the store. I told them straight up it's just how I live, and if that's a problem, we won't work out. Filtered themselves out real quick lmao.

Defend the guy for not sweating the small stuff like trash.

Sometimes being too strict on the small things makes you miss the big picture. @nancylee has a point about not sweating trash bags. If someone is kind and loyal, that matters more than one small habit. Constantly filtering for tiny flaws means you might end up alone. The perfect person does not exist. A good relationship is about seeing the whole person, not just one thing you disagree on.
