Serious question, three years ago I had a guy in the shop who swore by hand sanding for final prep, but last month we hired a new guy who only uses the DA sander. Which way gets a better finish?

The real question is which guy spends more time complaining about his sore arm.

My old boss made us hand sand the final coat on every classic car restoration... said you could feel the low spots better. Took forever on a big fender, but the finish was like glass. I still break out the block for tricky curves the DA just can't follow right.
