I finally gave that 'cold plastic repair' method a shot on a 2008 Civic bumper.

Followed the video exactly, let it sit for the full 48 hours in my garage, and the bond failed the second I tried to sand it smooth. What's the real trick to getting that stuff to hold, or is it just junk?

My buddy had the same "bond failed" thing happen. He swears you have to rough up the plastic way more than they show you.

Tell your buddy he's right. Those instruction videos are a total lie. They show a gentle little sanding, like you're petting a kitten. You gotta go at it like you're mad at it. Scuff the plastic until it looks ugly and chalky. If you don't, that glue is just sitting on top of a slick surface. Learned that the hard way on a bumper repair.
