Bought a $150 infrared paint curing lamp for small jobs

It cut my drying time down from a full day to about an hour for spot repairs, which was a game changer for my workflow. Anyone have a good method for blending the edges when you cure a small area that fast?

Try a slower ramp up with the heat. I found if I start on low from a foot away for a minute, it gives the edges a chance to flow a bit before I go full blast.

Oh, that's smart. My buddy rushed his last project and the heat gun just made the vinyl bunch up on one side. He had to peel the whole thing off and start over, wasted a good sheet of material. A slow start like you said would have saved him a ton of trouble.

Wait, does starting on low heat really work for thicker vinyl though? I've had the opposite happen where going too slow let the adhesive set weird. @laurajenkins has a point about not rushing, but I get better results using short, high heat bursts from the start to keep it moving. Maybe it depends on the brand of material your buddy used?
