Unpopular opinion: I thought the whole 'ask anything' format would just lead to chaos, but after seeing how it worked for a local town hall meeting last month, I'm starting to get it.
The moderator just wrote 'What's on your mind?' on a whiteboard and the 40 people there ended up having a better discussion than any planned agenda I've seen, so has anyone tried a truly open Q&A online and did it actually stay productive?

Forty people stayed on topic with just a whiteboard?

Honestly read a case study about this last week. The key was having a clear question on the board and a strict time limit for each part. People will focus if you give them a simple job to do fast.

Actually saw the original post. It was a digital whiteboard tool, not a physical one. They used it for breakout groups and live voting. Makes a big difference when everyone can edit at once.
