Shoutout to the guy who asked me 'What's the worst question you've ever gotten?' at a meetup
I was at a community meetup in Portland last month, just chatting with a small group. This one guy, maybe in his 40s, turned to me and asked that point blank. I laughed and said probably something like 'How do I get rich quick?' He got serious and said, 'No, the worst ones are the ones people are too scared to ask at all.' He told me about a time he was too embarrassed to ask how to read a bus schedule and missed a job interview. It really stuck with me because it's so true for this whole 'ask anything' idea. What's a question you almost didn't ask but are glad you did?

Missed a job interview over a bus schedule? That's brutal, man.

That guy sounds like he's been to a lot of bad meetups. I almost didn't ask my neighbor to turn his music down, but it saved my sanity.

Funny how the really bad questions are often about basic stuff we think we should already know. Almost didn't ask a coworker to show me how the office printer scanner works, kept making excuses for weeks. Finally caved and it took her two minutes to explain. Felt silly but saved so much future hassle trying to fake it.
