Can we talk about how fast AI art tools have gotten?

Three years ago, I tried one of the first text to image models and it took about 15 minutes to make a blurry picture of a cat. Last month, a friend in Chicago showed me how he could make a detailed scene in under a minute. Then last week, I saw a demo where it spit out a full, clean image in maybe three seconds flat. It's wild to see the change happen right in front of you. What's the quickest turnaround you've seen on a complex image prompt?

My buddy tried to get it to draw a specific car model, a '78 Trans Am. The first few tries gave us some weird hybrid with bicycle wheels. Then it spit out a perfect one in about five seconds. The grille was even right.

Honestly @brian237, that's the AI lottery right there.

Yeah it's the speed that gets me too. I was messing around with one last weekend, just typing "a dog wearing a pirate hat on a skateboard," and it gave me four options before I could even look up from my phone. The weird part is how normal it feels now, like waiting for a webpage to load. Makes me wonder what three seconds will feel like in another year.
