Unpopular opinion: I paid for a guided food tour in Lisbon and it was worth every penny
Everyone says to just wander and find cheap eats, but I dropped about 65 euros on a 3-hour tour in the Alfama district. The guide took us to five family-run spots I never would have found, gave us the history, and the portions were huge, basically a full meal. It saved me from wasting money on mediocre tourist trap lunches for two days. I know it sounds like a splurge, but for a deep dive into local food without the guesswork, it worked. Has anyone else had a good experience with a paid tour that actually saved them cash overall?
