inHad to choose between a mint Amazing Spider-Man #300 or paying rent on time
Damn, that's rough. Did you ever get to keep the comic? I just hid my stuff in an old shoebox in the closet after something like that.

inMy old art teacher told me to never use a ruler for my journal spreads.
That advice always bugged me. Tools exist for a reason, and a ruler is just a tool. My own stuff looked sloppy for ages because I was trying to be "organic." Using a straight edge for the basic structure lets me be messy and creative in the actual content, which is the whole point. It's like being told you have to build a house without a level. Some rules are meant to be broken, especially the bad ones.

inHonestly, the confusion around contactless payment limits is getting out of hand.
Yeah, my bank's emails about this stuff just get lost in the spam folder. Have you tried checking your card's app settings directly? I found the exact tap limit for my Visa card buried in the digital wallet section of my banking app. It's not in an obvious place, but it's usually in there somewhere if you dig around.

inJust realized my shortcut with the new Fluke 87V almost cost me a whole afternoon.
Honestly, I think blaming the tool is a cop-out. A good auto-ranging meter like that should just work, and @grace_knight70 is overthinking it. The real issue was probably a bad connection the first time, not the lack of a zero step.

inSat in a coffee shop on 5th Street and watched a guy spend 20 minutes trying to explain his insurance claim over the phone...
Watched a similar thing happen at the DMV last month. Honestly, I feel like the real problem is that nobody is allowed to just give a straight answer anymore. Everyone has to follow a script or transfer you to another department. It makes those simple tasks feel like a maze you have to solve while already frustrated.
