How stuck are we talking, @emmad88, like actually forever?

Actually I read this article last week about old knob and tube wiring in houses like mine. It said a ton of those old lines might still be hot even if they're not hooked to anything modern, because past owners just left them in the walls. I mean that's terrifying to think about, poking around and finding something that could still shock you. Idk maybe it's just me but I'd be super careful with any wire you can't identify. The article basically said to treat every unknown wire like it's live until you prove it's not, even if it looks dead. Makes Evan's point about a voltage tester seem pretty important.

How many of you find that your brain just won't shut off until your hands are busy with something real? That woodworking story is exactly it, lol. There's something about a physical task that your mind can't multitask on, so all the work noise just gets pushed out. I started messing around with fixing up an old motorcycle for the same reason. It forces a different kind of focus that makes going back to a screen feel less awful.

Right, it was just water, not a whole science project.

That just seems to waste everyone's time though. Clear questions get you clear answers faster.
