Spent 2 hours trying to fix a toilet that just needed the handle tightened
Last Saturday I heard that faint running water sound in my bathroom at like 11pm. I figured it was the flapper again so I spent an hour taking the whole thing apart and replacing parts. Then I noticed the handle was wiggly so I tightened the nut behind it with a wrench. Water stopped instantly. Total time wasted was over 2 hours for something that took 30 seconds to fix. Has anyone else ever gone down a rabbit hole on a simple fix like this?

Man, did you at least keep the old parts as spares or just toss em?

My neighbor Mike had the same thing happen with his garbage disposal last month. He bought a whole new unit and was about to install it when I pointed out the reset button on the bottom. One click later and it was working fine. @the_lucas asked about keeping old parts, which is smart actually because I always toss them and then regret it later when something breaks. Did you keep the handle or toss it too?

Ngl I've done that with a loose shower head. Tightening one thing after messing with everything else.
