I called my grandma's renovation superstition nonsense until my bookshelf collapsed
When I redid my home office, I laughed off my grandma's old rule about never placing a bookshelf opposite the door. She says it blocks positive energy flow, but I thought it was perfect for my new setup. I spent a whole weekend building this massive shelf and loading it with all my books. Two days later, I woke up to a CRASH and found every single book on the floor. The shelf itself was still on the wall, but the brackets had mysteriously come loose. My grandma didn't say 'I told you so,' but her smile said it all. Now I'm rethinking all those little family rules I used to ignore. Maybe there's a reason some traditions stick around, even if they seem silly.

Just the brackets came loose? That's wild!

Yeah that is wild! I had something similar happen with a shelf bracket last month, just one side came totally unglued from the wall out of nowhere. It was fine for years then one day it's wobbling like crazy. Maybe val_chen21 is onto something with the faulty bracket idea. Idk, I mean it makes sense, stuff just wears out sometimes and fails in a weird way.
