Blew $350 on a pottery wheel that's been sitting in my garage for 8 months
I got obsessed with watching those wheel throwing videos on my phone one night and bought a whole setup on a whim. The wheel was $350 used off Facebook Marketplace plus another $60 for clay and tools. I used it exactly twice, made two lumpy bowls that cracked in the kiln, and now it's just a dusty shelf for my gardening supplies. The worst part is my roommate keeps asking when I'm gonna have a pottery sale and I have to make up excuses about the kiln being broken. Anybody else drop cash on a hobby they never actually stuck with?

Laughing at the "pottery sale" comments because I also bought a $400 telescope that I used once to look at the moon, got bored, and now it's a very expensive coat rack in my living room. My buddy keeps asking if I've spotted any aliens yet and I just say it's been too cloudy for like a year straight. At least you got two bowls out of it, I just got a sore eye from squinting into the lens. We should start a support group for people who thought buying gear would magically give them a new personality.

Is that telescope still in one piece? I did the same thing with a kayak that’s been leaning against my garage wall for two years now, so I feel your pain.

The $400 coat rack (ouch) is somehow worse than just leaving it in the box? At least you're getting some use out of it even if it's painful to look at.
