Why did no one warn me about the currents at Cocos Island?
Booked a trip based on the hype, but the strong currents made it impossible to enjoy. Our instructor had to cut the session short for safety, which was a total letdown.

Wow, that's a classic case of dive tourism glossing over real hazards. Tbh, operators often hype up the marine life without stressing the physical demands. You really need to seek out firsthand accounts beyond the brochures.

Seriously though, is it that bad? Cocos is famous for drift dives, so currents are pretty much expected. Operators might gloss over the tough parts in marketing, but anyone doing basic research should find stories about the conditions. Cutting a dive short is just responsible guiding, not a letdown. Sounds like the hype set unrealistic expectations, but that's on the diver for not digging deeper.
