During my hike in Acadia, I noticed rangers swapping plastic markers for wood.
This small shift could MAJORLY reduce park pollution if adopted everywhere.

Ever come across those old plastic markers littering trails elsewhere?

On the Appalachian Trail near Harpers Ferry, I probably passed a hundred of those faded plastic markers just last season. They're definitely an eyesore, but @phoenix_fisher79, is it really that big of a deal compared to the actual trash people leave behind? Most of them are barely visible after a few years and don't harm the environment like broken glass or food wrappers. I get the principle of leaving no trace, but focusing on these seems like picking the wrong battle lol. Sure, they shouldn't be there, but there are way worse forms of trail litter to get worked up about. Honestly, if volunteers spent time removing those, I'd rather they tackled the microplastics from discarded gear.
