Heads up: My pal's endless loans forced me into an ethical corner

My friend kept asking for money to cover bills. I found out he was spending it on gambling instead. I had to decide if cutting him off was the right move. I chose to pay his rent directly to help without enabling. It was a tough call, but it worked out in the end.

Used to think cutting people off cold was the only way to teach them a lesson. This kind of situation totally flipped that view for me. Paying the bill directly is such a smart middle ground, it helps without feeding the problem. Makes you feel less used while still being a decent person. Tough spot, but you found a real fix.
