Can we talk about the worst subfloor surprise you've ever found?

I was pulling up old carpet in a 1970s house in Boise and found a 4-foot square of rotted plywood under a hidden leak. The homeowner wanted me to just patch it, but I told him the whole section needed to go. Has anyone else had to shut down a job over something like that?
