Watch out for that new 'self-leveling' post hole mix

Saw a crew using it on a job in Phoenix last month. They swore it saved them an hour on a 50-post run. I was totally skeptical, thought it was just marketing junk. Tried a single bag on a small repair job last week. Stuff actually works, sets level without any fuss. It's not cheap, about $22 a bag. Anyone else test this stuff on a bigger install yet?

Honestly I'm still on the fence about the long term hold. Yeah it sets level fast, but I've heard some guys say it doesn't bond to the post as well over time, especially with wood. Saving an hour sounds great until you get a call back for leaning posts. Might be perfect for temporary stuff or metal posts though.

Yeah, the bonding thing is what I'd worry about too. I mean, I used it on a few cedar posts last fall and they're still solid, but idk about like, five years from now. Maybe it's just me but I'd still tamp the old mix for a client's main fence.
