I kept sketching the same dress shape for every project

I was cleaning out my portfolio from design school and realized every single dress I drew had the exact same A-line skirt and fitted bodice. My teacher, Ms. Carter, wrote 'explore new shapes' on my final project three years ago and I just ignored it. It hit me that I was stuck in a safe zone and not really designing. I'm forcing myself to sketch ten new silhouettes this week, starting with a bias-cut column dress. Has anyone else gotten stuck on one shape and how did you break out of it?
