I just found out I've been sewing my pockets shut for years

I was showing a friend my latest jacket design and she tried to put her phone in the side pocket. It wouldn't go in. I told her it was decorative, but she pointed out the stitching on the inside. I had been sewing the pocket bags completely closed on every single piece for three years, thinking I was just making them super secure. I must have made over 50 items with fake pockets. Has anyone else done something this dumb with a basic technique?

Nah that's actually kind of a power move lol. Fake pockets keep the lines clean, I get it.
