Was shoeing a draft horse at the county fair in Springfield and the owner insisted on a specific nail pattern. Totally changed how I handle heavy breeds now.

Specific nail pattern, huh. What was different about it? Always figured draft horses just needed the basics. Did it actually make a noticeable difference in how the shoe sat?

Yeah, the shoe sat totally different. Reminds me of this one time a guy insisted on a weird toe clip angle for his show jumper. Horse kept stumbling until we fixed it.

Honestly, that sounds like a rough day. I've had owners with very specific ideas before and it can really throw off your whole flow. Tbh, it's frustrating when they don't trust your usual method, especially with a big animal like that. You just have to take a deep breath and do it their way, even if it feels wrong.
