The time I used a regular hammer on a shoeing job versus my new Mustad driving hammer
Had a tough quarter crack on a draft horse in Spokane last month, and my old hammer just bounced off the nails. Switched to the Mustad with the heavier head and got every nail set in two hits flat. The weight difference is only 8 ounces, but it felt like swinging a log versus a feather. Anyone else find a small change in tools makes a huge difference on big feet?

Okay but are we really doing dramatic tool reviews now? It's a hammer, not a magic wand. Sounds like you just needed a new hammer and the old one was worn out.

You're right, @alice_kim, but a good hammer feels like an extension of your arm when you find the right one.

Dramatic tool reviews" - come on though, isn't that kind of the point? A hammer is literally a tool you use to build stuff with your hands. If you're using one all day, the feel of it matters way more than people give credit for. Yeah it's not a magic wand, but when you've been swinging a cheap one with a bad grip for years and then pick up something balanced just right, it honestly does feel like night and day. I get being skeptical but sometimes a good tool just clicks and it's worth getting excited about.
