The week I tried to live on just chicken and broccoli

Last month I saw a video where a guy said you could drop 10 pounds in a week by eating only grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. I bought 7 pounds of chicken and 5 heads of broccoli on a Sunday. By Wednesday, I was so tired I almost fell asleep at my desk at work. My stomach felt weird and empty, and I started craving a piece of bread like crazy. I gave up on Thursday morning and ate a banana, and it was the best thing I ever tasted. Has anyone else had a plan that just fell apart because it was too simple?

That five pounds of broccoli staring at you from the fridge must have felt like a personal threat by day three. I tried a water fast once and lasted until I saw a billboard for pancakes. These super simple plans never account for the human need to, you know, enjoy being alive for a second. Your body was probably screaming for some carbs or fat, anything that wasn't just sad, plain protein and fiber.

Oh man, this reminds me of my friend who tried that cabbage soup diet. By day four she said she was at the grocery store and just stood there, holding a block of cheddar cheese in each hand like they were holy artifacts. She said the checkout guy looked genuinely concerned. She caved and ate both of them in the parking lot, straight out of the wrapper.
