The moment I realized my 'cheat meal' was actually a cheat WEEK
I spent 6 months doing strict keto, losing 20 pounds, then let myself have ONE slice of pizza last Tuesday and somehow ate pizza every single day until Sunday. Has anyone else fallen into that trap where one slip turns into a full-on binge cycle?

Does this count if my cheat day turned into a cheat month and then I just went back to eating whatever I wanted? I think I gained back 10 pounds before I finally got my act together.

yeah I saw some article the other day about how cheat days turn into cheat months way more often than people admit. it's like your brain just flips a switch and suddenly you're ordering takeout four nights a week thinking you'll get back on track tomorrow. happened to me a few years back when I tried keto. two weeks in I had one slice of pizza and then it was a whole month of garbage food before I even looked at a vegetable again. the science says your gut bacteria changes super fast when you switch diets so when you cheat it messes everything up way more than you expect.

Wait, are you saying your gut bacteria actually changes that fast? I read somewhere it takes like a week for your microbiome to shift completely. That honestly makes SO much sense why one bad meal can spiral into a month of chaos. Your body literally rewires itself to crave the junk again. It's not just willpower failing, it's your whole digestive system screaming for sugar and fat. I had the same thing happen with paleo, one piece of bread and I was toast (literally). The worst part is how long it takes to get those good bacteria back once you mess them up.
