Finally caved and tried that LED light therapy mask after a client swore by it for a year
My regular with cystic acne came in last month and her skin looked so clear I asked what she changed, and she said it was just that $200 mask from Amazon, so I bought one and now I'm kicking myself for not believing her sooner - has anyone else had a client change your mind on a treatment you were skeptical about?

Hold up, I see it a little differently. I mean, it's great that it worked for her, but I'm always wary of putting all the credit on one expensive gadget. A lot of times when people change one thing in their routine, they also start doing other small things differently, like being more consistent with washing their face or using better products. Maybe it's just me, but $200 for a mask that's basically a bunch of fancy lights feels like a lot when you could spend that on a good skincare routine or even see a derm. Plus, I've seen people get obsessed with gadgets and then get disappointed when real life stress or hormones mess with their skin anyway. Idk, I'm just not sold that it's the magic bullet for everyone, even if it helped your client.

You said "I'm just not sold that it's the magic bullet for everyone" and that's exactly what bugs me about these gadgets. So here's my real question: do you think people who swear by this thing actually saw results, or did they just convince themselves it worked because they dropped $200 on it? I mean, I've been around long enough to know that when people spend that kind of cash, they find a way to believe it did something even if it didn't. And you mentioned the whole placebo effect with changing other habits, that's such a good point. Like, maybe they started drinking more water or actually sticking to a routine because they felt guilty about the cost. Would love to hear your honest take on whether the results are real or just wishful thinking.

Did you find that skipping one bad habit made it easier to start a new one?
