TIL that everyone swears by the 'freezer trick' for a stuck iPhone battery, but mine swelled up and cracked the screen after I left it in my garage freezer in Phoenix for 15 minutes.

Has anyone else had a common repair tip backfire because of a specific condition like extreme heat or humidity?

Reminds me of how universal advice always fails somewhere. People say to put wet electronics in rice, but that's useless in a humid coastal town where the air is already soaked. Or the classic "just restart it" fix that does nothing when your laptop's fan is literally clogged with sawdust from a workshop. The internet gives one-size-fits-all solutions, but real life has basements, attics, and Phoenix garages that break all the rules.

Exactly, it's like getting diet advice from someone who's never had to cook in a shared kitchen with one working burner. The internet's favorite fixes assume you live in a perfectly average, climate-controlled box. Try telling someone in a swamp to use rice, or a baker that a restart will fix a laptop full of flour.

Yeah, my buddy tried the rice trick in his humid basement and it just made things worse.
