I spent two years cleaning flux with a brush before a kid's question made me feel silly

I was fixing a game console board last week, and my nephew watched me scrub away with a tiny brush and alcohol. He just asked, 'Why don't you use that spray can like on YouTube?' I froze. I looked it up, and sure enough, a $8 can of flux remover spray exists and works in seconds. My whole 'careful brush' routine was just me being stubborn and not checking for better tools. Has anyone else stuck with a slow method way longer than they should have?

Ever think we just get too comfortable with our own routine?

Isn't it crazy how we'll stick with a complicated way of doing something just because it's ours? I see this with my dad still balancing his checkbook by hand every month. @rose_craig97, you're right about the routine comfort, it's like we'd rather keep doing the familiar work than spend five minutes looking for an easier way.

Man, I spent a whole summer hand-mixing a weed killer recipe from some old forum before I saw the pre-mix at the store. Felt like a caveman discovering fire was already a thing.
