Always figured 3D modeling was too much for simple drafts, but a client's change order showed me why it's worth it.

Went years thinking paper plans were fine for simple jobs. Then had this one retrofit where my flat section drawing completely missed how a new pipe run would crash right through a ceiling beam. The 3D model we finally built showed it instantly, like a giant red flag. Totally changed my view on what "simple" really means. Now even for small stuff, if there's any complexity at all, I start in 3D just to avoid that gut punch later.

Ugh, change orders are the worst! Been burned by that exact thing before on flat drawings. It's so much easier to spot a problem when you can spin the model around and see everything at once. Definitely saves a ton of time and headaches down the road. Lesson learned the hard way sometimes, but it's a good one!

Right? I had a project where the flat drawings totally missed a ductwork clash with some plumbing. Only caught it because I was clicking through the 3D model out of boredom lol. Would have been such a mess on site. Those flat drawings can hide so much, it's crazy. Definitely learned my lesson the hard way too.
