Shoutout to my bathroom floor tile project that took a full weekend

I thought laying down those 12x24 inch tiles would be quick, but getting the pattern right and cutting around the toilet flange took me two whole days. Has anyone else had a simple floor job turn into a marathon?

It's the universal law of home projects. What you think is a two hour job always needs a whole new set of tools and three trips to the hardware store. That last 10% of any job, like cutting around a flange, eats up 90% of the time. I've just accepted that my weekend plans are always a first draft.

My husband tried to replace a toilet flange last month, dylan604. That "quick" job turned into two days, three broken bolts, and a new wax ring. I swear the hardware store cashier knows us by name now. You're right, you just have to plan for everything to take three times longer.

Three broken bolts? @alice_kim's story is making my back hurt just reading it. That last cut around the flange is always a nightmare.
