My bathroom fan was stuck and a zip tie fixed it for good
The fan in my upstairs bathroom in Phoenix kept getting stuck and making a loud noise, which drove me crazy for about two months. I finally took the cover off and saw the little plastic damper flap was hitting the housing, so I put a small 4-inch zip tie on the hinge pin to limit how far it could swing open. It's been totally quiet for three weeks now and it cost me maybe 10 cents. Has anyone else fixed a noisy vent fan with something simple like that?

Ever try that with a paperclip?

Actually saw a whole article about using paperclips for quick fixes. People were straightening them out to clear phone SIM card trays or reset tiny buttons on gadgets. Works in a pinch when you don't have a proper tool handy.
