That spray foam fix for my leaky basement window I’m actually hating now
I used to swear by spray foam for sealing gaps around windows, did it on my old house in St. Louis three years ago and it seemed fine. But last month I tried it on a basement window in my new place and it trapped moisture so bad the frame started rotting in like two weeks. Now I’m using backer rod and caulk instead, takes ten more minutes but air circulation matters. Am I the only one who found spray foam does more harm than good on certain spots?

Two weeks? That's insane, it rotted that fast?

Oh man yeah it can happen so fast lol. I literally had a bag of salad I forgot about in the back of my fridge for like 10 days and it was basically soup when I opened it. The slimy texture is the worst part too. For me what helped was putting a paper towel in the container to soak up extra moisture and checking it every few days instead of just leaving it. Now I just buy smaller amounts more often and never trust anything past a week.
