Took me 7 piercings to figure out I was cleaning them wrong
I used to spin my piercings a bunch every day during healing because I thought that stopped them from sticking. After getting my helix done about 6 months ago, a piercer friend told me spinning actually tears the healing tissue inside. She pulled up a photo of an irritated piercing on her phone and it clicked. Have any of you wrecked a piercing from bad aftercare before realizing it?

7 piercings sounds like a lot of trial and error to me. I mean, how bad could it really be if you didn't clean them perfectly? I've had like 5 piercings over the years and I pretty much just left them alone after the first few days. My helix healed fine and I never even knew about the not spinning thing until just now. Honestly, I think people online overreact about aftercare sometimes.

Gently spinning your piercings during healing can actually do more harm than good. It tears up the healing tissue inside and can introduce bacteria from your fingers into the wound. You probably got lucky with your helix, but not everyone has that same experience.
