Had to choose between patching drywall or building a bookshelf around it
I punched a hole in the wall moving a couch last Saturday, and after staring at it for an hour I decided to just build a floating shelf right over the spot instead of mixing up joint compound. Now I've got a permanent reminder of my bad aim that holds my coffee mug collection, so honestly I'm calling it a win. Anyone else ever just build over a screw up instead of fixing it properly?

Three drywall anchors, two of which I'm pretty sure are just holding on because of luck and stubbornness. My left shelf is already at a 2 degree tilt but I figure that's just character, right? I used the ones that come with the little plastic sleeves that you hammer in, the ones that spin forever if you hit a stud instead of drywall. My coffee mugs are all pretty lightweight so worst case scenario I wake up to a crash at 3am and have to patch two holes instead of one. Honestly the tilt gives it kind of a modern art vibe, like it's rebelling against the wall. I figure by the time the whole thing comes down I'll have forgotten why I built it in the first place which is kind of freeing.
