Appreciation post: My $8 thrift store paint sprayer saved my fence project

I picked up a used Wagner sprayer at a Goodwill in Tulsa for $8 last month, mostly out of curiosity. Figured it'd be a bust but I had a 6-foot privacy fence to stain and didn't want to hand-paint 200 slats. Took me an hour to clean it and figure out the settings, but once I thinned the stain to the right consistency it laid down a perfect even coat. No drips, no overspray mess, just smooth finish on the whole fence in about 90 minutes. I saved probably 6 hours of brushing time and the thing paid for itself ten times over. Has anyone else found a killer deal on a used tool that actually worked better than a new one?

Heard someone say old tools were built to last, guess you proved that right!
