Poured too much eucalyptus Dawn down the drain and my entire kitchen smelled like a cough drop for 3 days

I was scrubbing a greasy roasting pan at my apartment in Tucson and the scent was so overpowering I had to open both windows. Anyone else accidentally nuke their kitchen with a too-strong soap scent?

Did you try wiping down the counters and cabinets with vinegar water? That cuts the soap film and kills the smell fast. I keep a spray bottle of it under my sink just for that reason.

Oh man, vinegar water is basically magic in a bottle, isn't it? I swear my whole kitchen would smell like a greasy diner without that stuff... but then you've got folks who say it just makes everything smell like pickles. Can't win with everyone, I guess. Still beats the heck out of those harsh chemical cleaners that make your eyes water. I'd rather my kitchen smell like a salad than a science lab any day of the week.

Wait, have you ever tried baking soda and hot water? I read somewhere that it neutralizes soap residues better than vinegar does for that specific eucalyptus smell. Not knocking the vinegar trick at all, I use that for general grease, but the baking soda thing supposedly works because it's got a different chemical reaction with the soap or something. I once got lavender soap stuck in my kitchen and even after scrubbing everything three times it still smelled like a hippie candle shop until I did a sink full of hot water and dumped in a whole box of baking soda. Let it sit for like 20 minutes then flushed it all down, and boom, gone. Just a thought since that eucalyptus is stubborn as hell.
