Overheard a guy at the hardware store say he uses laundry detergent on his dishes
I was grabbing a new scrub brush at Ace last Saturday when this dude told his friend he's been using liquid laundry detergent instead of dish soap for the last 6 months because it's cheaper. Apparently he hasn't gotten sick yet, but I read online that the chemicals in laundry soap can mess up your stomach lining. Has anyone actually tried this or is this guy just living on borrowed time?

That reminds me of the time my cousin tried using carpet cleaner as shampoo. He was dead broke and figured "cleaning is cleaning" until his scalp turned bright red and started peeling. Apparently laundry detergent has all these enzymes meant for breaking down grass stains and sweat, not leftover pasta sauce. The ER doc told my buddy's friend that the detergent binds to your stomach tissue way stronger than dish soap does. I still can't believe people try this stuff just to save like two bucks.
