Told me to use a Wacom instead of my iPad for digital painting. That was bad advice.

A guy in a local art group kept insisting I ditch my iPad Pro for a Wacom Cintiq because "real artists use pressure sensitivity that works." I spent $600 on a used Cintiq 16, and after three months of fighting with driver issues and a cramped setup, I sold it for $400. My iPad with Procreate gives me way more control and portability, and I never had a single lag problem. Has anyone else found that the expensive gear doesn't always beat what you already have working?

That "best tool is the one you actually want to pick up" line honestly changed my mind lol.

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with a Cintiq years ago. I was convinced I needed "pro" hardware to level up, but it just sat there gathering dust while my roommate's basic iPad ran circles around it. Honestly, the best tool is the one you actually want to pick up and use every day, not the one that looks impressive on a desk.

Best tool is the one you actually want to pick up" hits way too close to home for me, @jennysullivan. I spent way too much on a fancy drawing tablet that now just holds up my monitor, while my cheap little Chromebook gets all the real work done. Guess I learned the hard way that looking impressive on a desk isn't the same as being useful!
