Just realized I was using layers all wrong for like 3 years
I was over at a buddy's place last weekend and he was showing me some of his pieces. He did something simple where he merged a couple layers and used a blend mode I'd never even tried... I asked him about it and he was like "you know you can just change the blend mode on a single layer right?" and I swear I felt my brain short circuit. I had been flattening everything down and then painting over it like a caveman with a mouse. Has anyone else had that moment where you discover something that everyone else probably figured out in their first month?

Nobody's talking about how this actually helps with learning. When you flatten everything and hand paint, you learn color mixing way better. Made me faster at eyeballing hex codes later. Might have saved you some time down the road.

Three years? Dang. I'd block that memory out too if it was me. How many projects did you mess up before figuring that one out?
