That day I stopped paying for a pricey gym membership to workout at home

Respectfully gotta disagree with ya here. Some people do fine with a squat rack in the garage but not everyone has the space or the right kind of house. My buddy set up a home gym in his apartment and the whole building complained about the noise from the plates hitting the floor. Plus he was stuck doing the same three exercises every day because he couldn't fit more gear. There's something to be said for having access to different machines and cables that target muscles in ways a barbell just can't do. And for people who need that separation between home and workout time, having your gym in the same place you sleep can actually kill motivation.

My uncle's car karaoke advice finally clicked after a year

Honestly, I used to think car karaoke was just a silly meme until I tested out my uncle's trick of keeping the jaw loose and breathing from the gut. @brian_ramirez, your comment about "Bohemian Rhapsody" is spot on, I tried hitting that high note last week and my voice cracked so bad even the GPS rerouted. It's wild how a simple tip about not forcing the sound changes everything. Ngl, now I actually sound halfway decent on "Don't Stop Believin'" instead of like a dying goose.

For years I microwaved popcorn the normal way... then my roommate showed me this.

Cut the empty run thing, that's a good way to crack the glass plate if it's cold and you hit it with high power. Just put a mug of water in there for a minute or two before your food. The steam helps warm everything up evenly and keeps the plate safe. The real trick for your burrito problem is to let it sit for 30 seconds after the first minute and then flip it before going again. Letting the heat spread through the middle before you nuke it again makes a bigger difference than a hot plate. Skip the empty microwave rodeo, just use some water.

Spent $400 on a smart thermostat and my electric bill actually went up

Honestly, it reminds me of when my buddy spent $600 on a smart fridge that texts you when the milk's expired. Thing's been in his garage for two years because it doesn't fit through his kitchen doorway. He's gotta bring Bluetooth speakers out there just to hear it beep at him. Meanwhile, my $200 fridge from 2008 keeps my beer cold just fine. Sometimes you're just paying for the novelty, not the utility.

Stopped by a shop in Gary and saw a brazing trick I'd never tried

See things a bit different on this. Using the 'wrong' flux for 15 years means the stuff still worked for your normal soldering needs, right? Most hobbyists aren't pushing the limits where flux type actually matters. Tbh the whole flux debate gets blown way out of proportion unless you're doing super fine pitch SMD work or something. If your joints were shiny and your boards worked then you weren't exactly failing. Lots of people overcomplicate things and miss the fact that even basic rosin flux gets the job done fine.
